When trying to figure out how much time you need to roast your prime rib use this simple calculation.

30 to 40 minutes before serving turn the oven back on at 375 degrees f 190 degrees c to reheat the roast.
You might be surprised to know that you can cook prime rib with the oven off.
Rub with olive oil.
It comes out perfect everytime.

Roast for 35 to 40 minutes 5 minutes per pound then turn the oven off and let the roast sit inside the oven for 1 1 2 hours do not open the oven door during this time.
About 30 45 minutes before serving time turn oven to 375 f to reheat the roast.
